Westport is about a two hour drive north of Albany, New York. It's also about two hours south of Montreal, Canada and 40 minutes east of Lake Placid, New York. From North or South on Interstate 87 EXIT 31, head east on Route 9N for about three miles. Shortly after passing beneath the railway train underpass, you'll see the Essex County Fairgrounds on the left. Take the left fork just beyond the fairgrounds onto Sisco Street. Take left onto North Main Street (also Rt. 22). Take a right fork onto Lake Shore Road. Shortly, turn right onto Furnace Point Road. From Vermont by the Crown Point Bridge Cross over the Champlain Bridge in Addison, VT to Crown Point, NY. Several miles ahead, take a right onto Routes 9N and 22 heading north. Go approx. 13 miles into Westport. Bear right onto Rt. 22 north, after bridge in a dip in center of the village. Take a right fork onto Lake Shore Road, shortly beyond the NY State boat landing. Very soon, (1/10th mile) turn right onto Furnace Point Road. From Lake Champlain Ferry (Essex NY) Open all year, ice and weather permitting. You can check schedule here . Route 7 to Charlotte. Watch for "Ferry to New York" sign at a traffic light. On New York side, lake a left out of the ferry dock onto Main Street. Drive through village along lake. This road becomes Lake Shore road and brings you to Westport in about 12 miles. Make a very sharp left turn onto Furnace Point Road. The turn is across from a small building on the right, with sign out front, North Country SPCA. Proceed down Furnace Point Road to lot. |
